  • Preliminary Application may be found in the links at the bottom of this page or picked up any time and returned to a drop box located in the foyer of the main office in Madison Tower. Alternatively, click here to fill out an Application online.
  • Documents required for verification of identity:
  • Valid and non-expired, government issued photo ID’s are require of all household members 17 ½ and older.
  • Social Security cards for all household members
  • These documents can be submitted in a couple of different ways:

  • Clear and legible pictures of these documents may be emailed to apps@hasproperties.org
  • **Your application will not begin processing until we receive these documents**
  • To determine program eligibility, you must fulfill some requirements:
  • All information required in the application including picture ID must be received by the office.
  • A Request for Criminal Background Check (CBC) report must be filled out and signed by each family member 17 .5 years of age and older.
  • A credit check will be completed.
  • For public housing, three years' previous housing references must be verified. However, if you are unwilling or unable to provide housing history, you can still apply for Section 8.
  • The entire process can take approximately two to three years, for both Public Housing and Section 8 programs. Before receiving assistance, you will have an appointment to sign additional papers and verify your income, assets and other miscellaneous information. Please Provide Accurate Information! 

Don't risk your chances for federally assisted housing by providing false, incomplete or inaccurate information on your application or recertification forms. 


You may be ineligible for all programs for committing fraud on the application. 


Applicants found guilty of fraud may be denied assistance for five years. Participants found guilty of fraud may be denied permanently.

Final Restrictions with the H.A.S.

We do not provide emergency housing, emergency assistance for rent or utility payments or home buying programs. The Housing Authority does not house any person subject to a sex offender registration requirement or who has ever been convicted of manufacturing or producing methamphetamine. This is the Housing Authority's policy based on guidelines published in the Federal Register.
